Another day; another mass shooting.

Just another dull day with nothing to report but another mass shooting, this time it was children, the last big one was black people.  The times where 1 or 2 people are shot just don't count any more.  It's got to be 10 or 15.  WTF. The Las VegasReview Journal has a story today about a man shooting an another because he was escorting the 1st guy's estranged girl friend. Oh, he was arrested and charged with a bunch of things but has been released!  Our son recently move near Little Rock, AR; the local paper has another shooting story.

And I have probably 50 pieces of mail from Republican candidates for public office and they all say the same thing:  I support our 2nd Amendment rights!  Well, shit!  I'm good with the 2nd Amendment but it certainly doesn't say anything about the right to go around killing others!  It doesn't say anything about letting nut cases do whatever they want.  It doesn't say buy all the military grade weapons you want.  What's next?  Why can't I go buy a mortar and a few rounds of ammunition? I mean it would take some practice to learn to use it properly but why not?  I'd only blow up 2 or 3 peoples houses while practicing.  I've had guns since I was a child.  I've had concealed weapons permits in two states.  But this is getting just a bit crazy.

The 2nd Amendment is pretty simple. It says:  "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."  Well, it needs some sort of restating to keep 'the right of the people to live peacefully' alive as well.

Thanks for stopping by.  Keep washing those hands!

Wow! No post for 3 weeks!

Well, talk about lazy!  Actually I do have a small excuse:  my wife's brother visited with us for a few days.  Yeah, that's not much of an excuse is it.  He's really a pretty nice guy.  Retired Navy, like most of her family, and widowed 3 years ago.  His trip was to attend a Celebration of Life for a friend who died recently and Las Vegas was a nice convenient airport.  He's been here before so we mostly took him out to eat in our various favorite places.  Having him visit really wasn't a big deal.  But having him follow behind the son & family makes it the most visitors we've had in years.

Other than having him visit it's been pretty quiet.  We managed a couple visits to Las Vegas for shopping.  We have been taking Gus, the dog, because he is still being a pain in the *ss when we aren't at home.

We put him in his crate and he just barks the entire time we are gone.  We have a camera on his crate and whenever we look at it he is standing there barking.  In the truck he whines quite a bit but does settle down once we get out on the road.  Happily we have a favorite restaurant in Las Vegas that has outdoor seating so we can be there with the dog.  We will have to find him a kennel for long term trips but we have a bit of time before we are headed out.

This is a nice time of year here in Southern Nevada.  Highs have been in the 80's and 90's (high 20's C) though we have had over 100F (37C) at least one time so far this year.  Nights are cool enough that we can open the house and get some fresh air in the house.  Even the cactus is happy.  Of course now that I said that I can't get the photos to upload!  WTH?

I'm trying to avoid talking about the upcoming elections.  Here in our county you are either a Republican or you don't have a chance.  They are all bragging about being conservative; one wants to impeach Mr. Biden and build Mr. Trump's wall.  Another one is bragging about being supported by Rick Harrison from the tv show "Pawn Stars".  It's just ridiculous.  What a bunch of idiots!

I guess that's all the news that's fit to print from around here.  Thanks for stopping by & keep washing those hands.

Back to the quiet times for the moment

Well, Number One Son and his females have gone; headed to their new home in Arkansas.  That should be interesting and we certainly wish them the best of luck.  Our dog is still running around the back yard sniffing for evidence of that intruder dog.  I never even saw the two cats.  Apparently they were happy enough with the sister in whose room they got to stay.

The intruder dog is a bulldog.  He is really quite friendly; almost too friendly.  He likes biting games with peoples hands so he needs to be corrected from time to time and isn't getting that correction.  When he is calm, he's a great guy.

That's him relaxing after I'd been scratching his belly.  He even raised his leg to give me better access.

So now we are back to exciting stuff like doctor's visits and vet visits for our dog.  Yep, three doctor's visits and two vet visits scheduled for the next week!  Of course one doctor visit is with my wife's surgeon and we are thinking he will be pretty satisfied with her recovery.

He gave her instructions to leave that tape on and just let it fall off naturally.  Well, it's covering the stitches so tearing it off doesn't sound that smart even to me!  She's also got a visit with her regular doctor; just a regular thing.  My visit will be with the dermatologist; a checkup on a thing they removed a few weeks ago.  Aging does bring these not so wonderful side effects.

Our son asked if we had any trips planned and the answer was basically 'no'.  Right now we don't want to put the dog in a kennel so that takes international travel or cruises off the table.  We have had people visit just a month or two after we moved somewhere and we won't do that to them.  So that leaves us a choice between a little trip over to California or maybe the other way to Arizona.  We might do something like that.  There are plenty of places we haven't visited in both states and it would get the dog used to traveling.  So far the farthest he's been in our vehicles is Las Vegas. Since 3 or 4 thousand mile trips are our norm, he may as well get used to days in the truck!

Gotta go.  The dog just came in to point out to me that I'm late with his breakfast.  Take care.  Thanks for stopping by and keep washing those hands!
